How should we tag aquarium-related questions?
@Beofett: try searching for just "freshwater aquarium". It will not find all of the questions tagged "freshwater-aquarium", yes this would be a natural search phrase to use.

Improving the quality of our answers to attract experts
I think the problem with attracting vets is that the site isn't geared toward questions they'd ask, so they have no reason to visit organically. I suspect that most Stack Overflow contributors find the site when Googling some programming problem they're facing, get a solution (usually without even needing to ask the question), and then stick around to both answer others' questions and to find solutions to problems they're facing. The "finding solutions to my own problems" aspect is missing for veterinary experts, in my opinion (and there's also not much that can be done about that.)

How should we tag aquarium-related questions?
@Chad: The fact that searching "freshwater aquarium" in the site search doesn't find questions tagged "freshwater-aquarium" is certainly an argument against my answer, although I'd argue that it's also a bug in the search algorithm. :(

Why don't we use comments with down-vote in Pets SE?
Unless you mean the hostile response, which of course can be flagged. Revenge downvotes, not so much, since they're anonymous and you can only guess who's doing it.

I'd avoid explicitly asking people to downvote a discussion question to indicate a specific preference...

Questions about desexing
A data point: Wikipedia doesn't even have a redirect for "Desexing", and "Desex" redirects to "Castration", which is definitely males-only (although it seems likely it's just a mistaken redirect). The Neutering article itself does mention that it's usually applied to males, although it's clear that it can be applied generically (unlike spaying, which is female-specific).

What tags should we use to distinguish gender from sexual behaviour?
Gender is a social construct of humans. I don't think it makes sense to even talk of animals having "gender" except by analogy.

Is review history not public in private beta?
"Moderator tools" is kind of vague and, AFAIK, not enumerated anywhere, but it does seems to me that the review history is one of the things included under that heading. So it should be a 1K privilege here.
